Soon after the world premiere of the Premium Coupe BMW 6 Series, the company from Munich introduced the latest version of its coupe. The car will be presented at the upcoming auto fair in Beijing.
The car, which strongly resembles the concept shown in 2017 in Paris, was completely created by Adrian van Hoodwink, the head of the design department at BMW. The Dutchman two years ago replaced the author of the previous, highly controversial German version of the Coupe, Chris Bangle. By replacing the main stylist, the new “six” is much less controversial than its predecessor, but at the same time less noticeable. Despite this, the Germans managed to produce a good car, which is likely to have a very young and very attractive appearance.
The latest BMW 6 series has grown compared to its predecessor. Fortunately, not in all directions. Now the car is measured 4.9 meters in length – more by 75 mm, 1.9 m in width – by 39 mm more and just over 1.3 m in height – by 5 mm less. The wheelbase of the car is 2.8 m. Thanks to this, four passengers will have much more legroom. One aspect is unchanged – it’s a trunk that can still hold 460 liters of luggage.
Although it is difficult to evaluate a car from images, the interior of BMW is bathed in luxury. And this is not only through the i Drive display system, which is the standard, but also due to the high quality of Dakota leather, or wood with polished aluminum inserts. Of course, it does not happen that a car of this class was equipped with everything from the very beginning. Thus, the list of options is really impressive, and even includes a glass roof, heating and ventilation seats, an audio system from Bang & Olufsen or GPS navigation that is connected to a 10.2-inch screen.
First, the Premium Coupe BMW 6 Series will only be available with two engine versions – the 640i and 650i. Model 640i hides under the hood three-liter six, which is fueled by gasoline. Thanks to the turbine, the car develops a power of 315 hp. And a torque of 450 Nm. In combination with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the model is able to accelerate the German GT to hundreds in 5.4 seconds. The maximum speed was limited to 250 km / h. Interestingly, despite impressive performance, the car should be quite modest and burn an average of 7.7 l / 100 km.
Another version of the BMW 6 has an eight-cylinder V-engine with a capacity of 4.4 liters under the hood. In combination with two turbines, the engine generates up to 402 hp. And 600 Nm of torque. Sprint to a hundred in this configuration takes only 4.9 seconds. The maximum speed, as in the weak version, is limited to 250 km / h. Unfortunately, a larger engine produces more smoke. BMW says that in this configuration the car consumes an average of 10.4 l / 100 km.
